Researchers from the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Southern California have shown a positive correlation between drinking coffee and a lower risk of hepatocellular carcinoma. These findings, targeted to this type of liver cancer, also known as HCC, were presented at the American Association of Cancer Research’s annual meeting. During that presentation, researchers noted that people who are at high risk for HCC should aim to drink coffee on a daily basis.

According to V. Wendy Setiawan, Ph.D., a doctor and associate professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of California, the study involved following 179,890 women and men over the course of 18 years. The study participants were of varying races, including Latinos, Caucasians, Hawaiian Americans, African Americans and Japanese Americans. Researchers tracked the participants’ coffee consumption, as well as other factors related to their lifestyles.

Of the participants in the study, 498 of them were eventually diagnosed with HCC. Researchers, however, noted an interesting correlation between the amount of coffee consumed and the likelihood of the study’s participants to develop cancer. For those people who drank, on average, one to three cups of coffee each day, their risk for developing HCC was 29% lower compared to those who drank less than six cups of coffee each week.

Even more startling were the results of those people who drank four, or more, cups of coffee each day. These people showed a 42% lower risk of developing liver cancer. While these results are encouraging, they are not the first time that a positive relationship between coffee consumption and a lower risk of liver cancer has been shown.

In 2013, a study published in the medical journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology analyzed published data from years of studies. The studies pulled included 16 from between 1999 and 2012, with results showing a 40% reduction in the risk of HCC with the consumption of coffee. Additionally, the risk was slashed by 50% when individuals drank at least three cups of coffee each day.

The link between cancer and vaccines

The polio vaccine, like so many others, is grown in a culture of tissue, specifically monkey kidneys. The problem is;
“…many of the monkeys from which tissue was taken were infected with deadly viruses that would end up harboring in and infecting humans. The main virus of concern is known as SV40, which later studies revealed is associated with causing brain cancer. Though it had previously only been thought to infect other monkeys, SV40 was eventually determined to have made its home inside the bodies of millions of humans injected with the polio vaccine.

It was believed that SV40 only infected monkeys and shouldn’t be found in humans in any circumstance, let alone associated with tumors,” explained Dr. Daniel Bergsagel, M.D., a pediatric oncologist (who) made the inadvertent discovery that SV40 was present in tumor samples collected from sick children.

As it turns out, dozens of monkey viruses were present in the earliest polio vaccines administered during the mass vaccination campaigns that took place back in the 1950s and 1960s. And the worst part is that those working on the vaccines, including Salk and his colleague Albert Sabin, had to have known that the monkeys from which they were producing vaccines were heavily contaminated.

The best estimate we can get right now is that there was at least 26 different monkey viruses in those preparations,” added Dr. Howard B. Urnevitz, a microbiologist and vaccinologist from California who has long studied the process by which vaccines are made, to CBC during an interview.

They varied from lot to lot, from country to country, but it was very clear that these monkeys were heavily contaminated — and realize, you had to have just one sick monkey — and they were put in a cage with other monkeys and they would infect each other. Their kidneys were removed and all of these viruses would be in it.”

The evil of artificial sweeteners (Cancer)

Aspartame breaks down into methanol (would you knowingly drink rubbing alcohol?) which then breaks down into formaldehyde – a well known carcinogen.

Aspartame is primarily made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine. The phenylalanine has been synthetically modified to carry a methyl group, which provides the majority of the sweetness. That phenylalanine methyl bond, called a methyl ester, is very weak, which allows the methyl group on the phenylalanine to easily break off and form methanol.

You may have heard the claim that aspartame is harmless because methanol is also found in fruits and vegetables. However, in fruits and vegetables, the methanol is firmly bonded to pectin, allowing it to be safely passed through your digestive tract. Not so with the methanol created by aspartame; there it’s not bonded to anything that can help eliminate it from your body. That’s problem number one.

Problem number two relates to the fact that humans are the only mammals who are NOT equipped with a protective biological mechanism that breaks down methanol into harmless formic acid. This is why animal testing of aspartame does not fully apply to humans. According to Dr. Woody Monte, a toxicology expert and professor emeritus at Arizona State University in food and chemistry:

“There is a major biochemical problem here. Methyl alcohol is known now, and has been known since 1940, to be metabolized differently by humans from every other animal.”

As explained by Dr. Monte, in humans, the methanol ends up acting as a Trojan horse, and here’s how. Both animals and humans have small structures called peroxisomes in each cell. There are a couple of hundred in every cell of your body, which are designed to detoxify a variety of chemicals. Peroxisome contains catalase, which help detoxify methanol. Other chemicals in the peroxisome convert the formaldehyde to formic acid, which is harmless, but, again, this last step occurs only in animals. Human peroxisomes cannot convert the toxic formaldehyde into harmless formic acid.

So to recap: in humans, the methyl alcohol travels through your blood vessels into sensitive areas, such as your brain, that are loaded with ADH, which converts methanol to formaldehyde. And since there’s no catalase present, the formaldehyde is free to cause enormous damage in your tissues. Symptoms from methanol poisoning are many, and include headaches, ear buzzing, dizziness, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, weakness, vertigo, chills, memory lapses, numbness and shooting pains in the extremities, behavioral disturbances, and neuritis.

The most well known problems from methanol poisoning are vision problems including misty vision, progressive contraction of visual fields, blurring of vision, obscuration of vision, retinal damage, and blindness. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen that causes retinal damage, interferes with DNA replication and may cause birth defects. Not surprisingly, the most comprehensive and longest human study looking at aspartame toxicity found a clear association between aspartame consumption and non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and leukemia.”
